VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
HCI seeks a volunteer to write articles, press releases & feature news for publication in our newsletter, local & area newspaper & other publications.
HCI also needs your help with the Lower Shore Ramp Project. If you consider yourself good with tools and would like to help, please call Rose Carey at 443-260-0822.
Kudos to Wicomico County Detention Center for providing excellent volunteers for several past ramp projects.
DEMONT ELSEY JOINS THE “BLUE TOOTH” GROUP
“June 24, 2008 will forever be one of the greatest days of my life. This is the day I received my very first cell phone, an ENV2 with a blue tooth that is connected to a switch device. Once attached to my headrest, I can activate the cell phone through the movement of my head with just one click. Through voice command, I can verbally control the calls that are made and also when they are finished. Honestly, this is something I have always hoped and dreamed for as long as I can remember. “
This is significant for Demont because he is paralyzed from the neck down. This allows him to be more independent by providing him with his own communication device. Way to go, Demont!!!!

PEER MENTORING
GROUP
Graduates of the Youth Mentoring Program have established a new peer mentoring group for ages 24 – 30. If you would like to join or know someone who would, please contact Michele Corron at 443-260-0822.
RETIREMENT
Elizabeth Vaughn recently retired from HCI’s Board of Directors after completing nine years of service. We really appreciate her years of service and wish her well in her future endeavors.
DONATION
HCI was the recent recipient of household items from a family that was moving out of state. Remember, if you have any items that you would like to donate, please contact Lee Lewis at 443-260-0822.
COMPUTER LOAN PROGRAM
HCI’s Computer Loan Program is in need of speakers and hard drives. Call Gwen Dize at 433-260-0822 if you would like to donate.
