Assistive Technology
HCI provides individuals with disabilities, their families or advocates, and associated professionals access to
typeaid

Assistive Technology devices and services to increase independence in the home, school, recreation and work environments. HCI's Assistive Technology program brings information and resources within reach to residents of the Eastern Shore.

HCI offeres a range of resources from state-of-the-art technology to simple solutions. Working together with local, state and national partners, the staff at HCI offer cutting edge solutions to barriers of independent living.

Goalsphones

  • To assess the assistive technology needs of persons with disabilities.
  • To provide information on the full range of assistive technology options.
  • To provide information on funding options for assisitive technology
  • To provide indvidual and systems advocacy regarding assistive technology issues.

This program is for anyone, of any age, with any disability, who find barriers in their lives because of their disability. HCI provides information on devices to help in the kitchen, magnified reading devices, visual signalers for hearing impared, remote control for immobility barriers, worksite choices to continue working.

We will help identify useful adaptive equipment, vendor rsources, and funding resources.

Free information on products and resources, short term loan of assistive technology for trial at home, work or school. All items in demo lab are available for loan but are not available for sale. Vendor referrals are offered
